Apr. 11th, 2014 @ 11:16 pm Pharmacy error
Found out why last month was so bizarre - the pharmacy tripled the dose on my pain meds at the same time that I started a new muscle relaxant. I was all over the wall - sleeping for days, insomnia, nightmares, crying, terrified of the surgery, anxious, dry mouth, dizzy, even feeling like I couldn't quite breathe - just verklempt!

So now I have to deal with that. My initial reaction was no harm, no foul - but that was immediately after the pharmacist said it was them. Then I got home and everyone was talking about how weird and awful the month was, and I started to put the real picture together in my head (no longer being drugged). I think I'm gonna follow up on this but not sure how.

It was oxycodone and instead of 5mg the pills were 15mg. I thought the new muscle relaxant was kicking my ass, never even thought it was the pain meds I normally take at the same time. I'm not sure how to go about doing anything - obviously add more to the incident report at the pharmacy.

Any advice?

I think I'm gonna actually! Now that I'm back to my normal dose it will take weeks to get to the point where it will really help and drug addiction scares the crap out of me. I keep lowering my dose when I start to get too much tolerance - right now I am past tolerance and my normal dose is like taking an aspirin. I've stayed on the same dosage for 3 years now. Crap! (((hug)) I am so glad you are my friend!!

I'm with Gabrielle!!! I would sue the pants off them!!!!! And I'm not one of those people that sue all willy nilly ... but this was unspeakable!!! You really suffered because of this negligence.

If you can't afford an attorney there are a couple options. (And YAY ... I provide links!!! But they only work if you still live in Tuscon. I know you moved recently (or at least I think that was you) but I went by what your profile says. If the following doesn't help ... remind me as to where you live and I'll look up lawyery stuff for there!!! Just say the word!!!

A) Legal Aid ... it is free legal service. They base whether they will work for someone based on what the case is and income.

Tohono O'odham Legal Services
2343 E Broadway Blvd., Suite 200
Tucson AZ 85719-6007
(520) 623-9465 Ext. 4189

FAX: (520) 884-5821
Applicants for new Services: 1-800-248-6789

THIS IS THE MAIN SITE/ Your profile said Tucson so I looked up that specific office for you on the site.

B) There are also lawyers that work on a contingency fee. (They don't get a fee unless they get money for you.) Usually they take a percent of the winnings.

Using THIS SITE I found three lawyers that work on a contingency fee that were rated high among not only their peers but with the clients as well.

William D. Nelson

Rockafellow

Hollingsworth Kelly

I hope that helps!

*tons of hugs and massive doses of love*

Wow - you are amazing!! Thank you so much for doing such a huge amount of research. I'll check with legal aid first - we are still working with them to save the house. Yes, I do still live in Tucson - same house for 31 years. It helps so much to have the names of these lawyers!! Thank you!! ***oodles of love and soft puppy hugs**

I have no advice, so I am so happy to read that there are LJ friends who do have advice and very usable information, too. The Internet rocks! Best of luck with the right medication and I'm sorry that you had to go trough such a horrible month because of such a mistake. Think if they hadn't discovered the mistake! It's horrible.

That's a pretty major mistake, and obviously has and could continue to impact your life very negatively. Definitely should talk to an attorney and find out what your options are.

Oh dear, that's truly awful! I hope your starting to feel better now.

Not my area of law unfortunately and not being from the States I'd be precious little help, but I'm glad that there are some people who have been able to help you out. I hope something is done about this for you!!
