No word on anything but life is okay. My older daughter just made me do 10 random facts on FB and I decided to put them here, too. Now I can assign numbers to other people - mwahaha!

1) The day after I started my first period my parents told all their friends. When I walked home from school every adult in the neighborhood stopped me to congratulate me. That was easily the most humiliating day of my life.

2) When I was 12, I set my bed on fire trying to show my cat that a sparkler was perfectly safe. The cat was fine but my father, my brother and a bunch of his friends had to push the mattress out the window and off the porch roof into the front yard and put it out with the hose. The neighbors did not congratulate me - but they did laugh.

3) I remember the very moment when I realized that the Pledge of Allegiance was made up of words and not a long string of meaningless sounds that teachers seemed to like.

4) I drove cross country the summer after my sophomore year in college. I was with two friends - one from Long Island and one from the Bronx. The farther west we went the more people would turn and stare at us when either one talked. It was like a sitcom without the canned laughter.

5) I have a BS in Integrated Studies. It took 7 colleges and 13 years. I really loved college so whenever I came close to a degree I would transfer.

6) I worked two seasons as a carnie (actually a “40 miler”). I was a shill, a ticket seller, a foodie, and I worked at the Bingo joint. I went to more than one carnie wedding. Carnies marry each other by getting on the Ferris wheel and going three spins backwards. I can still speak carnie.

7) I worked at a circus for one run. I made cotton candy. You put a paper cone in the vat and spin it so the cotton candy adheres to the cone. At the end of the day my arms hurt, may hands hurt worse, and I was covered with a thick film of sweat, dirt, and spun sugar.

8) I have been with my husband for 38 years. We can communicate by hand signals and random consonants. I have two daughters by birth, one by adoption, and several kids by osmosis.

9) My years as a Montessori (and PF) teacher were some of the best years of my life. It has been fun following “my” kids as they have taken wing.

10) I inhaled.

Well, I am on paper! Sometimes I look at all that and go....hmmm, I've had a rather odd life. I also have had 34 children's books published.

Let's see - your number is 12 - so 12 random facts abut your life and anyone who likes them - you can assign an amount.

It really was fun! The stories of the other carnies were heartbreaking at times but it was like a huge tight family. I wish I had been a carnie kid - no school and every adult is a parent. Well, there was home schooling but it was interesting. Instead of geometry you learned how to slough a joint or put one up, or even redesign one if you needed to fix parts and had to be up without them. (Slough is both taking down a joint and kind of a holiday because it was time to move on)

Let's see - you are pretty busy so your number is just 6 - so 6 random facts abut your life and you can assign numbers~!

I've already done my 12, posted on both LJ and FB. So no more numbers! ;-)

I was 14 or 15 for my first period. If I hadn't had it by my next birthday, my parents were going to take me to the GYN.

I remember in 6th grade reciting the pledge loudly. Everyone else was whispering it. After that I whispered it to. And I haven't thought of that in decades!

I'm from Long Island but both my parents are from Michigan so I don't have the accent. Actually knew a guy in college who could guess where people came from by their speech patterns. I stumped him!

I also inhaled. *huge grin*

You did your 12 - I am so proud of you!

I started when I was almost 11 - which definitely compounded the emberassment. My older daughter started the day before she had a doctor appt to find out why she hadn't started. Turned out she had PCOS and she would bleed 25 days out of 30. Not fun. I found out years later I should have been taking her in for transfusions - sort of a 'duh' moment.

I got in big trouble in 8th grade for refusing to say the pledge. My friends and I prefered the Pledge to the World. So I got yelled at and after that I said the PttW very quietly.

Inhaling was fun - so were special brownies.

My 12 are here.

My periods are very heavy. Apparently going through a super plus tampon in less than an hour is unusual. Who knew? Anyway, where I'm going with this is that I've had anemia for who knows how long. Didn't need transfusions but I am taking extra iron. 25 days out of 30? And I thought a couple of days was annoying!

Oh yeah, special brownies. And a friend of mine did this thing with Jello and, I think, vodka.

It is brilliant. I had a lot of fun reading my daughter's list. She wrote about smuggling duckling onto a plane in her shirt. And getting lot's of duck crap all over. By the time the plane landed everyone was ooohing and aaaahing.

I am going to assign you a 12 - so 12 random facts abut your life and you can assign assign list numbers.

Very interesting. I don't think I can even think of 12 random facts about me.

Of course you can - it only took me two days. You can do it!! XD

Since you are not sure about 12 I will assign you 8. They can be simple like how many pets you have or what your favorite collors are, or broken yellow carayon stories. :)

I once volunteered to test out the roller coaster right after it had been rebuilt at a new spot. I got on and asked the ride jockey if he was sure it was safe and he told me he sure as hell wouldn't ride it, then he pushed the car. That was one terrifying ride!

I think you are fascinating too - so I am going to assign you a full twelve facts. I was thinking of 14 but I don't want to take away writing time!

I love roller coasters and that made me shiver! Hopefully I will have forgotten it by the time I next take a ride!

Am working on my 12 and will hopefully have them posted later today. :)

It really is fun! I'm on FB because a whole bunch of my former students are there - the last group I taught (middle school) are entering cllege. It's just really neat to be able to see their lives - like reading the whole book instead of a few chapters in the middle.

I haven't assigned a 10 yet, so I guess that is yours! This will be fun!

Hee - well I got 11 on FB, so I guess I'll just recycle those answers here. :)
